Description

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) was originally developed to treat chronically suicidal individuals diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).

Within the DBT framework, life-threatening behaviors such as suicidal self-injury, suicidal ideation, and suicide communications are prioritized during treatment, regardless of diagnosis.

So how do you use the DBT skills to help a client who is struggling with ideas of or gestures toward suicidality?

During this workshop, you will learn the research behind using DBT for treating suicidal behaviors and learn skills that can help you address those behaviors in a client.

Must attend the entire day and complete the distributed evaluation form to receive full credit. Partial credit is not allowed. Those arriving more than 15 minutes after the start time or leaving before the workshop is completed will not receive CE credit.

ABOUT THE PRESENTERS

Alina Gorgorian, PhD: Dr. Alina Gorgorian, PhD, has been clinical director of Clearview Women’s Center since 2011. As clinical director, Alina oversees the clinical program, facilitates DBT skills groups, and provides training and education on DBT to program staff. Alina is intensively trained in DBT.

Kate Roahrig, MA, MFTI: Kate Roahrig, MA, MFTI, is a DBT therapist at Clearview Women’s Center. Kate has been a member of the Clearview Women’s Center team since 2012, starting her work as a community counselor and moving into the position of house manager. As a DBT therapist Kate facilitates DBT skills groups and CBT groups, and provides individual therapy using DBT.

CPA Accredited: Clearview Treatment Programs is approved by the California Psychological Association (CPA) to provide continuing professional education for psychologists. The California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) now recognizes CPA continuing education credit for license renewal for LCSWs and MFTs. Clearview Treatment Programs maintains responsibility for this program and its content.

Prerequisites: This workshop is intended for doctoral-level psychologists, physicians, and terminal level master-degreed clinicians who have completed their own programs of study.
